Musée de la Légion d'Honneur Private Tour

The National Order of the Legion of Honour (Légion d’Honneur) is the honorary company which, with the Chancellor of the Order and the Grand Master, is responsible for awarding the highest honorary French decoration. It was established May 19, 1802 by Bonaparte. It rewarded, from its origins, the military or civilians for their service to the nation.

The National Museum of the Legion of Honour and the orders of chivalry is devoted to the orders of chivalry and merit, decorations and medals, both French and foreign. It is located in the Hotel de Salm. It was created at the initiative of General Dubail, Grand Chancellor of the Legion of Honor, and funded through donations of the legionnaires and the military medal orders (with a particularly strong success in the United States). It was opened in 1925.
